I took a week off from blogging to really decided what I wanted to get out of blogging and to come up with a game plan. I'm fairly new to blogging, so I did some research on some of my favorite bloggers to see where they started and how they built up their blogs to be what they are today. The common items I found that I needed to improve on were:
- Quality photographs - Need to designate someone to take photos of myself instead of blurry selfies.
- Need to focus my content a bit more - Many of my favorite bloggers are considered "lifestyle bloggers" but tend to put a larger focus on something specific (i.e. fashion, being a mom, travel, etc.)
- Nicer graphics - Need to take the time to invest on original graphics to accompany my posts.
- Fewer, more quality posts - I feel like I rushed a lot in the past to get a post up every day. I need to focus on posting two - three times a week and spending the time to really craft a good post.
My fears with now moving to Blogspot is not having that built in community that WordPress has. It's going to be a challenge to really push my story out there, but I believe I can certainly achieve my goals here.
To start, I have moved my site to GoDaddy hosting and am still working to direct my site to Blogspot. I'll keep everyone updated once the changes have been made.
Going forward, I will be posting content solely on this site, and not on WordPress.
