3 Things #15: You Can Find on TopHatter.com

I’ve recently discovered this highly addictive auction site called Tophatter.com. The products available on this site range from inexpensive costume jewelry to designer handbags for a fraction of the retail cost. While browsing through the site to find my first goodies, I did start to notice that not everything on this website is a gem. You really need to look at what you are bidding on, read the descriptions and be sure it’s the correct item you want and that you trust the sellers. Now, I’ve never used auction sites like this before so I quickly became lost in a sea of products on the Live Events page. But scrolling through to find the next best item to bid on was actually pretty exciting and an adrenaline rush.

So if you’re wondering if it’s worth checking this site out, here are my top three most notable items that make Tophatter worth a try.

1. Jewelry.
There is a LOT of jewelry on this website up for auction. Some of it is super high quality, but most is playful costume jewelry. I was so excited to find this David Yurman bracelet dupe on one of the auctions, which I scored for only $5!!!

2. Beauty Products.
One of the really nice parts of Tophatter is the name brand beauty products you can find. I saw a lot of auctions for Bare Minerals products, Too Faced lippies, and I even scored a Kylie Lip Kit for $15. It was well worth the wait for the product to come up for auction.

3. Obscure Tech Gadgets.
I haven’t tried purchasing any of these yet, but there were tons of cool gadgets you probably never thought you’d want. I saw plenty of auctions for highly durable iPhone compatible lighting cables, smart watches, fitness trackers, and even colored toilet bowl lights!! I didn’t even know that was a thing!

Review: Influenster FIERCE VoxBox

1. Vaseline
Such a basic, household staple. I'm pretty sure my mom had the same jar of Vaseline in our house since I was born. But you can use it for so much! For me, receiving this Vaseline was fate. We didn't have any in the house and I came down with a really nasty cold the last few weeks. From using so many tissues, and from the air being so cold and dry, my nose and lips were so cracked. Vaseline definitely helped to bring my skin back to life.

2. MCJW Beauty Oil
This hair oil has been great for smoothing out frizzy and dry winter hair. A little bit goes a long way with this, so be careful! If you use too much, you'll be stuck having to wash it all out and start over. I use two small drops on my hair when it's damp out of the shower. If using on dry hair, I cut it down to one drop.

3. Sinful Colors Kandee Johnson Matte Polish
Holy. Crap. This polish is SO CUTE! I've never used matte polish before, but it was perfect for transitioning into Spring. Only thing I really wish I had was a matte top coat. I hate wearing polish without a top coat because it chips so fast, so I ended up throwing on my regular Seche Vita top coat, which of course defeated the matte polish purpose. But I will definitely be investing in a matte top coat so I can really wear this beautiful shade of peach!

4. Shea Moisture Shampoo & Blow Out Creme
This shampoo and blow out creme was phenomenal. I've used Shea Moisture products before, but never the blow out creme. It made my hair look so smooth and shiny. And my hair was noticeably less dry.

5. Carefree Liners
Another lady staple to have at all times. These are great for light days, spotting, or to wear regularly to absorb moisture. They are so thin that you honestly don't even feel them.

Overall, I definitely felt fiercer after using all these products. It was a great VoxBox to get me ready for Spring!

3 Things #14: Designer Dupe Accessories

Sorry guys! I was at a conference on Friday and thought I had scheduled this gem to post. So here is a make up.

1. The Louis Vuitton Neverfull Dupe
Such an easy one! Any large sized tote bag can instantly be your new Neverfull. While the iconic Neverfull tote by our favorite man named Louie is the perfect carry-all, it also comes with a hefty price tag. If you really want to splurge on an original Neverfull but can't afford the cost, there are plenty of websites that sell gently used designer bags, including this one, for a fraction of the cost. I really enjoyed perusing Trendlee.com for Louies. My go-to dupe is this Vince Camuto tote pictured above.

2. The Vince Blair Slip On Sneaker Dupe
My girl, Kelsey, shared this dupe with me and I love them!!! This is the IT casual shoe this spring, and why wouldn't they be! Slip-ons so comfortable and easy. If you aren't willing to splurge for the nearly $200 price tag, try Steve Madden's version or Target! They look almost identical.

3. The David Yurman Bracelet Dupe
This is an item I'm had my eye on. I love the simplicity and versatility of David Yurman jewelry. But I just can justify the price tag, especially since I don't wear jewelry all that often. So when I was browsing TopHatter.com (and we will go into length soon about this amazing site) and found this DY look alike, I had to have it. And I spent all of $5 on it!! SCORE!

What are some of your favorite items you've found great dupes for?

Bell Sleeve Beauties

The bell sleeve. This is a trend I had to get into this year! Add in some ruffles or fringe and I'll be in heaven! The top I'm wearing above I found at Zara for only $35! It also came in an ivory color that I had to go back and get. It is one of the lightest and airiest (is that a word?) tops I've ever owned. Bell sleeves just have a way of adding instant femininity to even the most casual outfit.

I'm finally back at work today after a really loooooong weekend at home. My regular daycare provided (a.k.a. my mother-in-law) is on vacation this week so I spent the last two days with my little nugget, snowed in might I add during daylight savings! UGH! As much as I love the occasional snow day, I'm really looking forward to being able to take Cooper out of the house. Being stuck in the house all the time is really starting to make Cooper and I bored to tears! I miss walking the bike path, or sitting on my porch with a coffee. Those were the days...

What about Spring are you all looking forward to?

3 Things #13: Gadgets That Are Worth the Splurge

1. Apple Watch
I've said it once, and I'll say it again. This is one FINE piece of technology, and I do still plan to write a full review of it shortly. I rely on my watch for everything now. The activity tracker reminds me when it's time to move around and get up from my desk, the calendar tells me where to go next when I'm in back to back meetings, and I never miss a message from my husband because of my busy work day. This watch is great for those who are constantly on the move and don't have time to be glued to their phone, and I'm sure it's great for teachers who may not be able to have their phones available during the day. My favorite is it has interchangeable watch faces and bands so you can always change your look depending on your mood.

2. A portable charger
If you are a heavy texter, social media user or just are glued to your phone a lot, a portable charger is a MUST. Being a blogger, I always am checking my stats, updating Instagram and Twitter, and keeping up with my favorite blogs. This is extremely draining on your battery. I always keep a portable charger on hand in case I need to juice up my iPhone.

3. Amazon Echo or Echo Dot
Okay, this is a cool one that would make an AWESOME gift for someone. I recently received an Echo Dot as a gift at work and this thing is seriously helpful. I have mine in the kitchen and whenever we are running low on something, I just ask Alexa to add it to our shopping list, which compiles right in my Echo app on my phone.  That way I never have to worry about leaving the list at home. There are so many other things you can do with it too like play music, use as your alarm clock, or if you purchase the other Amazon home attachments, you can use it to control smart home functions like the light switches, thermostats or television. Plus, if you opt for the Echo Dot, the smaller Echo version, it's only $50!!

7 Things That Will Make You Cry as a Parent

Since becoming a parent, I've developed the blubbering bone in my body. Commercials that never used to phase me now make me tear up. Movies that I used to laugh through now cause me to look at it through another lens. So today, I wanted to recap some of my favorite movies, tv shows, and commercials that remind me what being a parent is all about and always make me tear up like a total wuss. SPOILER ALERT!

1. The Giver
This one is totally weird. It really doesn't have much to do about parenting at all. If anything, the parents in this movie are extremely cold and essentially robots. What made me blubber like a baby were any scenes with Jonah and Gabriel. The way Jonah would do anything for that sweet boy honestly made me want to grab my son and force him to cuddle with me. Uh...I can feel the tears coming on now.

2. Huggies commericals
So weird, but so true. Those sweet Huggies commercials that are on now that have some sweet little lullaby and cute little newborns in the hospital nurseries. I cry almost every time.

3. Bad Moms
I've said it once, and I'll say it again. This is one of my favorites. It really is just hilarious, and brings you through all of the emotions of being a parent. Moms can be frustrated one second, pissed off the next, and then totally in love with their little ones in the next breath. Parenting is complex.

4. Life As We Know It
As much as I loathe Katherine Heigl, I love this movie. It covers those major milestones of having a baby and they are just as clueless as new parents could be.

5. Tangled
I endure watching this movie almost every day. We usually alternate between this and Frozen. The scene at the very end of Tangled where Rapunzel is first reunited with her parents is just...ugh. So sad and happy! I always cry. Haha!

6. Luvs commercial
The Luvs commercials that show the comparison of first child to second child make me laugh. I've found so many of these to be true just from birth to now of my son. Things I was so concerned about at the beginning of his life, I just have lost total patience for. And because I've discovered Luvs is now our favorite diaper. And if I had to do it all over again, Luvs would be the only diaper we'd use. Especially since I was paying almost double for another brand before that I found out later actually makes Luvs also!

7. Any montage about growing up.
Nothing reminds you more about how fast your baby is growing that those cheesy montages in movies, tv shows and even commercials of a child who grows up to play sports, get his first car, graduate, get married, yadda yadda. And they really are cheesy but I cry EVERY TIME!

I don't know, maybe I'm just a huge softy, but does anyone else cry at these things?!

Spring Trends to Spring For

Spring Inspiration

Ahh! It may be raining here in Little Rhody today, but it is a cool, crisp high of 65 degrees today so I am in my happy place. I am crazing spring and all the beautiful trends that go with it. This year, I have a major aching for dusty rose, ivory, and seafoam. The palette is just so springy! I'm kind of over the floral trend, and need something fresh and different for spring.

Another trend I am definitely trying for spring is nude/pink lip colors. It always makes my lips seem fuller and it is so classic that it goes with everything.

What are some Spring Trends you can't get enough of this year?
