February Favorites

1. Apple Watch Series 1 ($269.00)
Okay, this was a big purchase. I got it with a gift card to ease my guilt of spending this kind of money. So happy I did! I've had it for a few weeks now and this watch has become an essential device in my life. The activity tracker built into it really does help you be more active. It nudges you with reminders to stand up, take a breath, and forces you to set goals for yourself. I love being able to check my calendar right from my watch so I can keep track of where I need to be for my next meeting. This is worth every penny!

I picked this baby up for half the price during the After Party Sale and I love it. It is super chic and I use it for all my notes for work. The only think I wish is it was a true 9x7 notebook size so it was easier to find notebook refills. I'm not a big fan of using LP spiral notebooks and wish I could get them executive journal refills. Otherwise, this is a great size, and if you're an LP agenda fan, it fits their agendas as well.

This sweatshirt is so soft! I love the worn in look and feel, and I can justify getting it just to bum around the house because it's under $20 !!! Umm, yes please!

These are old for me, but lately I've been loving these. I had forget how much I loved a simple pair of Nike's that just go with everything.

Okay people, this stuff is the real deal. Winter makes my hair so dry and I've been dying for something to give it life back. Well, I've been using this trio now for over a month and the results are so real! You just shampoo & condition like normal, but after your shower just spray the Elixir (not pictured) all over. It works great as a detangler, leave in conditioner, and I like saturating the ends of my hair with it to give my dry ends some oomph. I will definitely be keeping a look out for sales on this one. So worth the cost!

**Thank you L'Oreal for sponsoring this post! I received products free for the purposes of review via Influenster. All opinions are my own.**

"On the Night You Were Born..."

I really just cannot believe how fast time has gone. As of next Sunday (yes, Superbowl Sunday), I will have a one year old. How did that happen?! So, for this Mom Monday post, I want to go tell the story of how my little one came to be.

It all started when I went to my 36 week appointment to check up on things. At this point, I was so tired of being pregnant and everything that went along with it. My feet hurt, my back hurt, I hadn't slept in 3 months, and all I wanted was an ice cold beer. So much to my dismay, I was told at my appointment that I wasn't even dilated, and would most likely go all the way up to my due date, if not maybe a little later.  After leaving my appointment, Tim and I went to grab lunch. I remember sitting down in the booth before the waitress came over, and I started bawling my eyes out because I just didn't want to be pregnant anymore and I wanted to see my baby.

The next day we had a huge snow storm. If I remember correctly, at least 9-10 inches of snow on the ground, so I was working from home for the day. After lunch, I started feeling my first Braxton Hicks contractions. They were annoying, but nothing crazy. Basically just felt like an upset stomach or some gas pains. Later that night, the snow had stopped. Around 8:30pm, I sat down to watch a movie with the ginger snaps my mother-in-law had sent over for me, she thought they might help move my labor up (apparently some old wives tale). The contractions started to feel stronger. I decided to start timing them, just in case. I remember thinking it was way too early, but in case something was wrong I should check. They varied. Fifteen minutes between one set, 6 between another, maybe 20 between another set. I brushed them off as normal pregnancy happenings since they didn't seem to be getting worse from there.

I decided to try and walk off the contractions thinking maybe if I got up and moved they'd go away. I stood up from the recliner, walked toward the bathroom and what do you know...POP, SMASH! Yup. That big, dramatic water breaking moment that supposedly only happens in the movies. It happened to me. All over my dining room and bathroom floor to be exact. So as I'm trying to clean up the mess, my friggen two cats are walking around, smelling the wet floor trying to figure out what it was.

I remember being scared. I was home alone, Tim was just about to get out of work and I was about to bombard him and let him know we were about to have a baby. I called my doctor, who wasn't available. His associate called me back, and non-chelantly said he'd meet me at the hospital. In that moment, I was happy I was over-prepared for everything. The car seat was already in my car, my hospital bag was already packed, and I gathered our last minute things before leaving. I called my in-laws (they live around the corner) to come pick me up. The contractions began to get really strong and really close together, at this point they were 2 minutes apart. Twenty minutes had past and my in laws still were not here to pick me up. After 30 minutes, they finally showed up and we rushed to the hospital, which is 45 minutes away. But not before stopping to get gas on the way. At that point, I really wasn't sure if we'd make it to the hospital. My contractions were so close together I started to get really nervous. I focused on breathing and just told myself it would be okay.

Tim met us at the hospital after work and I was admitted immediately following a really rude and unnecessary list of questions from some crotchety old nurse about why I hadn't attended a birthing class 4 weeks prior to my due date. As I lay in the delivery room, I was already minutes away from being ready to push, but the doctor wasn't there yet. We started pushing before he got there. I'll spare you the details, but about 20-30 minutes later, we had a gorgeous and sweet baby boy arrive at 11:49 pm, two hours and 49 minutes after my water broke. He was a fighter. He was ready to get out, so he just did it. I was able to hold him for a short while before they took him from me to sit under the warmers. Since he was early, he had a hard time keeping his body temperature steady. He was a bit jaundice, but they suspected that would go away shortly.

A couple hours later, we were allowed to finally go to our own room with our little boy. As I finally got into bed, the nurses decided to take Cooper back to the NICU, as his body temp still kept falling.

From there, the next 11 days were almost unbearable. It was a roller coaster of emotions. Highs and lows every day. Cooper's body temp became normal, but then he developed an apnea issue and had to go a steady 4 days without any episodes before he could go home. He also still had abnormal jaundice levels that we had to monitor. I tried to power through it as best as I knew how. Somehow our hospital room because our new, temporary home. Coming home to shower and get clean clothes every couple days just felt wrong and awkward without our baby by our sides. We spent Superbowl Sunday & Valentine's Day in the hospital before we were finally allowed to take Cooper home. I think the day we got to go home with him was probably the best day of my life. We had a healthy, tiny little human to add to our family now.

Over the last year I've seen Cooper grow from a baby in the hospital to a true little boy with this huge personality. He has a way of making me put everything into perspective. He reminds me of what's truly important, who matters in the greater scheme of life, and gives me a purpose to life. One of the biggest things he has taught me is what I am capable of doing. He inspires me to reach for greatness, to achieve the impossible, and to just be an all around better person. If you asked me who I was before I met my son, I'd tell you I don't know that person. Because I don't. I don't want to know any life before there was him.

Happy Birthday, Cooper. You are so unbelievably loved, and you are forever going to be my little fighter. You embody strength and greatness and I know you will continue to amaze me as you grow up.

3 Things #10: Etsy Shops for the Planner Obsessed

I haven't done any planner posts in awhile, so I wanted to take today to share details on my favorite place to purchase planner flair...Etsy! I am Etsy-obsessed. I'm going through my top three favorites for different types of planning.

For the 6-Ring Binder Planner

If you love fashion prints and all things chic for your planner style, look no further than Nicole H. Her Etsy shop will tickle any style guru’s fashion bone when you see her amazing artwork, journaling cards, custom made dashboards, and so much more. Nicole’s shop is hands-down my favorite place to by planner goodies and she always adds her personal touch to everything she sends out.

For the Erin Condren/Happy Planner

During my Happy Planner days, I loved purchasing new covers from Stylish Planner! There are so many different types to choose from, they are super well made, and I loved how talented the shop owner is. Also, she does make dashboards for those using binder planner systems to, so you should definitely check this one out.

For All Planner Lovers

This Etsy Shop has any style of planner stickers you could think of. There is honestly something for everyone. You can get huge sheets of printables for only $3.00 each. Which is awesome, so you can continue to print the same set over and over.

Valentine's Day Accessory Ideas

V Day

I've always hated Valentine's Day. Crazy, right? And even though I've almost always had a significant other on the holiday, it still just felt like a sad excuse of a holiday to get gifts and force affection. I truly believe that real love shows affection year round and doesn't need a special holiday to prove it. Plus I hate how shitty it makes people feel who don’t have a special someone to share the day with. I’ve been there, too.

What I do love about Valentine’s Day though is the tradition to wear shades of RED. The color of fire and passion. And might I add, my best color. There is something about wearing the color red that just makes me feel so empowered and fierce. And sexy as hell.

This Valentine’s I’ll actually be at a huge meeting in Las Vegas for work, so I won’t get to spend it with the hubs. But I will be sporting my new red Calvin Klein dress that I’m super excited about. I would love to have a blush colored bag also.

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Any special dates?

The Bachelor Rundown & Predictions: Nick Viall (SPOILERS)

Okay my fellow Bachelor Nation lovers. We are a few weeks into Nick Viall’s season and it’s time to give you a quick rundown of who actually matters and who we could give two shits about.

This season, Nick seems back to his old self. So long is the self-aware, bluntly honest Nick we came to love on Bachelor in Paradise. Nick has fallen right in line with the fa├žade any Bachelor is supposed to keep up…a jilted man looking for love. Barf! Nick seems to be super interested in anyone with large assets and zero common sense (cough….Corinne….cough). I really had high hopes for this season of The Bachelor, but it just seems like more of the same garbage. Sigh…

Who Is Relevant

Corinne Olympios dominated social media on Monday night after the most recent episode showed her napping during the rose ceremony (and pretty much every other part of the show) and revealing to the girls that she has a nanny that she just can’t live without. Corinne decided the best way to score points with Nick was to be completely naked under a trench coat during their talk before a rose ceremony, and force him to awkwardly lick whipped cream of her chest. All my husband and I could think of when she did this was Ali Larter’s famous role as Darcy in Varsity Blues. The best part is someone made a Twitter account for Corinne’s Nanny. And it has more followers than Corinne herself does.

Everyone knew Vanessa would be a front runner since day one. It’s even rumored online that Vanessa received the final rose. I believe it. She’s smart, sexy, is a special education teacher, ffs. She has “wifey” written all over her forehead. During her one-on-one date with Nick this week, she puked multiple times while in some zero gravity simulator plane. Nick of course comforted her. Yawn. The only thing that would have made this date entertaining was if Nick puked after seeing her puke. Or if her puke floated in space. Why am I not a producer?

Raven, Rachel, Danielle M., Danielle L.

A few other impressionable ladies, but still not really stealing the spot light yet. Raven is an Arkansas girl with a thick southern accent who loves college football, Rachel received the first impression rose, Danielle M. is the sweetest person you’ll ever meet in the entire world and is a neonatal nurse (go NICU nurses!), and Danielle L. is just a bombshell who is a really good dancer.

Who really doesn’t matter, but is pure Bachelor gold

Meet Alexis, the dolphin girl. She showed up in a shark costume on the first night, insisting she was dressed as a dolphin. She’s a pretty wacky chick from New Jersey (not surprised), and she is our Bachelor hero for saying what every contestant probably wants to when their name is called for a rose, “Move, Bitches.” Endless applause.

I am noting Christen because she is one of the few contestants with class. When former contestant, Liz, revealed to Christen privately that she had met Nick prior to coming on the show and they had slept together, Christen showed serious grace and class by keeping that information to herself and not sharing it with anyone else. When Nick brought it up in their one-on-one conversation on a group date, Christen again handled the topic like a lady, didn’t overreact or throw accusations. She also didn’t bash Liz once. Christen wins the award for strictly abiding by Girl Code. Also, she squealed like a 12 year old when the Backstreet Boys came to announce their group date. She is all of us.

Jasmine G.

A pro basketball dancer and former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, Jasmine is headed straight on the path for a future Real Housewife. I don’t know why she even bothered to go on this show. She just needs to find a rich man in Beverly Hills, Atlanta, New Jersey, Potomac or New York and I’m sure she will be all set. Her intentions are strictly for fame, but she did do a pretty sweet face plant in heels last week. So I’m giving her some space here.

The Predictions

Everyone else is pretty forgettable and to be honest, looking at pictures of the contestants I’ve never seen half of them on screen. My prediction is that Corinne, Rachel, Raven and Vanessa will make it to the final four. Corinne will ultimately be eliminated once Nick realizes she’s a child, he will realize Raven is too country bumpkin for him, and he will realize Rachel is just plain boring. Vanessa getting the final rose and proposal. After a very public year together, Vanessa and Nick will split with some bull shit excuse that trying to integrate their lives was just extremely taxing on both of them and living in separate countries put a strain on their relationship. And we can finally be done with Nick Viall, and ABC will go back to selecting guys who “deserve” to be the Bachelor/Bachelorette. No more curve balls.

What are some of your final four predictions? I'm dying to hear what everyone else thinks of this season!

Sweater Obsessed

I just can't get over how perfect this weather is for sweaters. #sweaterweather

My favorite sweater trends this season are the earthy tones, and super cozy, oversize chunky knit sweaters. I must own them all. I've also seen lots of baggy sleeves, bell sleeves. Anything goes this winter. As long as it looks like you could sleep in it, it's perfect.

I'm actually shocked at how warm it's been this winter....relatively speaking of course. Here in New England, it's been in the 40s and 50s the last couple weeks, with an occasionally frigid day here and there. It makes it really hard to plan your wardrobe for the week. I'm super excited right now to get into some warmer weather. I have to visit Las Vegas next month for a business meeting and am praying to see some mid 60s weather while I'm there. I have some adorable spring clothes already that I'd love to test out.

Where are your favorite places to purchase chunky sweaters? I'm in need of adding a few to my collection.

DIY Coffee Bar

Since we moved into our house almost two years ago, I've been working on small DIY projects just to make our house more of a home. One of my favorites was hands down my coffee bar. The one we have for now is temporary until I get a real kitchen remodel. The space in my kitchen is limited so I had to get creative. The best part is I got it done in about two hours.

What you'll need

 - Three shelf wire rack.
 - One shelf or a slab of wood. Pallets could work too!
 - Shelf liners
 - Coffee maker
 - Coffee & Tea
 - (6)Screw in eye hooks in my kichen
 - One small shelf unit
 - Matching coffee cups

So I was fortunate enough to have this old shelf already installed, and I planned to hang coffee mugs from it. All I had to do was just having to screw in the eye hooks into the shelf to hang the coffee mugs I already had. The biggest obstacle I had were these old radiators. In order to get around that, I used those wire racks where you can adjust the shelf height. I found at my local Home Depot and laid it on the very top shelf to create a steady, flat surface to add the coffee maker. I then added some faux flowers, k-cup carousel and some miscellaneous tea bags in my favorite mug for guests to use.

I am dying for suggestions on how to improve my make shift coffee bar, or what I should add to my permanent version once we are ready to remodel!

3 Things #9: Lilly Pulitzer Must Haves

As the dust settles from the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale, I am fawning over my new goodies and decided to highlight my three favorites.

1. 3" Walsh Short - Resort White Getting Steamy

These shorts are seriously SO cute! The material is such high quality and I love that there are so many different types of tops I could wear these with. They are the perfect summer short that you can dress up or down. And I scored them for only $29.00!!! Sold out during the sale, but THESE are similar.

2. Gold Agenda Folio

For the avid planner girl who loves using Lilly planners, this is a no brainer. But for me, I wasn't sure but I had to try it. I'm so happy I did because it fits notebooks perfectly, and looks super chic. It has become my go-to for my notes at work (and in Human Resources, you take A LOT of notes). Out of stock on the website, but found it on Amazon HERE.

3. Emery Shift Dress - True Navy Starfish Eyelet

I posted this one on my Instagram yesterday and I am just obsessed with it. It is perfect for work, or a summer night out. It would even make a great wedding guest dress. It is so well made, and the color is so classic. I felt like a million bucks in it and received tons of compliments. Again, out of stock but almost the exact same dress HERE.

I'm dying to know if anyone else shopped the sale and what great items they found! Share with me in the comments, please!

Review: FabFitFun Winter Box 2016

D.L. & Co Soy Blended Candle – Bergamot Woods

This candle is seriously pretty. It is petite and looks great on a bathroom vanity or makeup table. I’ll admit when I first smelled it, I wasn’t entirely thrilled about it. I thought it was weird. But once I actually burned it, the smell started to grow on me and now it is so refreshing. Is it really worth the $44 it says it is? Probably not. I’m good with my huge $20 Yankee Candles. But this company is literally selling it for that much. Cray.

O.R.G. Mineral Facial Peel

I can’t tell you how excited this made me. I’ve been searching for a great non-abrasive facial peel for years, since I stopped selling a product I loved and couldn’t find it anymore. This fits the bill. Simply spray it on and rub in circles on your face and you can literally feel the dead skin falling off. It’s gross, but feels super clean after. Only con to this is if you have the slightest bit of peach fuzz on your face, the dead skin gets caught in it and it’s hard to get off. Definitely needed to wash my face after using it. Since using it though, my skin is noticeably clearer and not as greasy. Win!

AndersonLilley Beach Butter Body Cream – Winter in Manhattan Beach

As you probably saw in my “January Favorites” post, this is probably my favorite item in the box this season. This is the most amazing body cream I’ve ever used. And the scent is heavenly. It’s super thick but not greasy at all. My hands feel like a baby butt. I put a little bit on my feet the other day and then slipped on some fuzzy socks after. My feet are the softest they’ve been since summer. ☺

Moleskin 2017 Weekly Notebook Diary/Planner

This is a pretty nice planner. Moleskin’s are great planners and great size. But not for me…I have way too many planners going right now and just started a bullet journal, so this one is going to be re-gifted to someone this year. I did like that there is a pocket in the back of it and stickers to mark different types of occasions.

Butter Iconoclast Mega Volume Mascara

I was pumped to get a mascara. My normal favorite just ran out and I was about to buy another. The ball end on this mascara brush is a little hard to get used to, but I do like that it makes it easy to get into the inner corner of your eye.

Marie Mae Thank you Notes

I haven’t used these yet, but they look super cute and very high quality. I love flat thank you cards. I think they just look super chic. Can’t wait to give these a try….now if only I could send out my wedding thank you cards. Whoops!

Gorjana Silver Double Layered Necklace

I liked this necklace. It was cute and I really needed a longer silver necklace. Most of my jewelry is gold so adding this one to the mix was great. Two things I hate about layered jewelry. 1) It always twists. I wish this had like a small bar between the two strands separating them so they didn’t twist together all the time. And 2) this necklace is 100% not worth what they claim it to be. It’s pretty, but it’s really cheaply made. The clasp on mine was really stuck and I felt like I was going to break it so easily if I kept playing with it.

Overall Vibe

As always, I loved my box. It was a great gift from my husband to have a yearly subscription, and I love that I get a fun box of goodies every season. It makes it super exciting. Hands down, I still feel like this subscription box is WELL WORTH the cost. The items you get are full size, high quality and diverse. Can’t wait for Spring to come now! ☺
